An interesting poll, if rather quiet debate from last week's question!!

So this week let's get down to basics!

Tell us about your gaming set up... pictures would be appreciated if you have them, but if not just give us the details and make us go green with envy ;)

I've just "borrowed" the use of a projector, but I've only answered based on my usual set up :)

Which consists of a hard working/over used 32" Philips 32PF9830 with ambilight (5 years old!!), and 5.1 Pioneer 859 Amplifier.... which is amazingly still going strong after well over 10 years of use!!!

I finally managed to upgrade the front room set up (42" and new HD Surround Amp) last year so the above was kindly donated to the games room, and I've never looked back... and in fact is so much better than the new 42" due to the imperceptible input lag compared to the 100ms on the new screen!!

Looking forward to trying the projector out though, even if it is unfortunately limited to VGA and 720p/1080i signals!! :(

Not to mention you'll have to sort out the 3 screen setup again soon for more forza3 goodness.

As for myself... it's a 32" Samsung LE32A456 with 5.1 sound being sent to my ears via a set of Sharkoon X-TATIC v3 5.1 Dolby Digital Headphones, so technically 5.1 sound, quiet enough not to wake the neighbours :P

46" Toshiba Regza andsomenumbers (classic LCD), 1080p of course
5.0 no bass box here :( driven by a Sony A/V Control Center STR-DG 720, fed by HDMI, no need for optical cables

I wish I could ban people from answering and not replying in the thread..... we want your feedback guys, not just your votes :P

Very cool Oppa... and don't remind me Friendly, I've only just re-set everything back up in the correct rooms of the house so it's a bit depressing to have to bring everything back to the dungeon again!!!

On a Panasonic 32" Viera these days......the 72" screen with projector just got dimmer and dimmer.......LCD panels wear out on those things and need replacing every 2-3 years.

In hindsight i think large projected gaming makes you worse at games. Whereas you can easily get an LCD screen in a small field of view, if you have a wall-full-of-game there's too much eyeball movement needed to take everything in easily. Especially bad for "twitch" shooters.

Telly is 1080p of course but i run it on component 720p. Mainly because of HD-PVR for video capture when the mood takes.

I'm one of the 50's its a Silver Panasonic Viera Plasma that I've had since 2007 - and it's begging me for a Silver Halo: Reach Slim Console that it's just gonna have to live without :)

7.1 Denon AVR-1910 with a Sony KDL 40", HDMI from the 360 to the receiver, HDMI from receiver to the TV. Like Shag, my TV is capable of 1080p but I play my games in 720p.

:hi:

I used to play on my 32" TV but I prefer to sit so damn close to the screens that I actually prefer to game on a smaller screen so got myself a 24" 1080p Monitor & game on that.
I find I can lose myself more in a game if I play on a smaller screen with it right in front of me.

I also use the pioneer xbox360 surround sound system that they brought out.

Use to play on:

22" monitor
5.1 surround (the flash bangs in Rainbow Six Vegas talked the wife into getting me some TurtleBeach headphones-imo are better than a 5.1 system)

Now:

40" plasma 720p.
TB headphones.

I just need to get another 360 and hook up the old monitor and headphones since that was my best combo by far.

You know I think I have to agree... sometimes size really isn't everything, and there are a fair few games where I much prefer playing up close and personal on a little widescreen monitor rather than the big screen. Games such as Halo, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey etc.

However for racing games I don't think you can beat a wall of vision!! The immersion helped, of course, with the steering wheel and racing seat set up :)
