Hello All!

My dad has finally given in to getting rid of tiscali at long last. He and i both want to find the best internet supplier available.

Can anyone reccomend a good ISP which we can get both internet and phone from for about £20-£25 p/m

Cheers all

DarkBow-

Telewest , now Virgin Media ...

Ive been with them from the start of my Live experience ( so about 2 1/2 years now ) and they've only let me down once with the service dropping ( Promptly sorted out and back online within 3 hours )

I would say go for Virgin , My sis has AOL and i don't rate it to Virgin ( As it goes through the Phone Line ) and there are performance issues there ...

Virgin's 2 for £20 offer

i wa swith BT for 2.5 years and never had a problem..Went to sky on Jan31st and have had nothing but problems. cancelled my direct debit cus i am paying them nothing after the way they have treated me. Just switched to Virgin Media and i got TV free for a year , Unlimited broadband and phone line rental all for 27 pound a month.. Virgin are currently offering TV free for 12 months.they sent me the box with everything apart from the broadband box.. will give them the benefit of the doubt and they will be here next tuesday to install everything.

I can vouch for BT i have been with them for 6 months without one issue, I get the 8meg download cap and it cost me £25 a month for phone and a 6meg connection so not to bad at all.

depends where you live and what services are in your area, that will narrow the choice down as you may be outside cable coverage and it depends whats in your local exchange

mosts ISP's are pretty reliable, the hardware you use, be it router or usb modem ect, the quality of your line and the distance from your exchange would have more of an affect on just how relieable your connection is that it does not drop you often.

I can vouch for BT's reliability, the only probably was that the little modem they gave me burnt out, it probably just overheated never plugged it back in to find out anyway BT give out decent routers instead now.

I also found Bulldog to be reliable but the call centers are a joke if you want any advice it has to go via E-mail.

Cable companies NTL (seems like they're now called virgin media) or Telewest depending on your are are decent providers you'd get phone line broadband and digital tv for just over your budget.

All think these are the only companies that provide broadband in a package that includes line rental all other companies you'll be paying BT a further £11 on top which is probably what you were doing with tiscali.

Take that advice and take mine.

AOL are terrible, they limit your access to certain live features. Certain servers, clans, exclusive items. You'll never get them with AOL. Not to mention they trap you in 12 month long contracts. Not long til i can break free of mine.
