I'm the only one from the site who had to replace the console twice due to three beep syndrome :glare:

No if it your just getting one for games due to the fact that there is only a handful of games worth owning and some of them are Timed-Exclusives (Haze as example) and will be released on 360 when the exclusivity ends. Also PSN might be free for the time being but companies can charge you to connect to their servers if they wish (remember you had to pay EA on some PS2 games).

If you just want a Blu-ray player than the PS3 is the Cheapest.

As PNR said - buy it as a Blu-Ray player, but don't expect to get as much use out of it as a console as you do your 360. :D

As my stepbrother has one iv played the ps3 quite a bit. I would probably have to agree with more aless what pnreyard said, if ure looking to use it instead of the 360 though the online is less superior but it is free at that. But if u have an HDTV and are looking to invest into a blu-ray player i would buy a ps3.

As a Blu Ray player its pretty impressive. (which is the only reason I got one)
But as a games machine, TBH the 360 wins hands down.

Lets face it, the amount of (decent) exclusives on PS3, you'll be able to count em on one hand and have a couple of fingers left over.

Im buyin one in a few weeks mainly becasue there are games on there that i want to play now im not very good at waiting lol, going back to the last gen consoles tho when the console war between xbox and playstation kicked off i owned a playstation 2 and an xbox although i prefered the ps2 to the xbox.

This time i love the 360 and i know im going to keep it as my main console the ps3 will be for blueray and also for the titles that rnt on xbox right now i know they probably will come out on the 360 in the future but they will also be titles that will never come out on the both consoles like Killzone 2 i loved that game on ps2.

All i have done is look at the games that are already out and the ones that are coming out this year, for me it was an easy decision to make.

So that makes it 4 to 1 in favor of it being just a Blu-Ray player (the 1 for XNuttonX who is does not like waiting for games ).

All you have to do is wait on people like Ragtag and Soans (as they currently own one) to give you their opinions.

I actually saw my ps3 on the floor yesterday covered in dust :( , the last time I played it was at Christmas for about an hour & before that was like october. I thought about getting rid of it as I don't use it for blu-ray either but there are a couple if games i'd like for it in a few months like MGS4/killzone/Haze/GT, so  I'll probably hang on to it.

Should you get one?

If you have the money & you want one, then yeah might aswell, some good games will come out soon hopefully :)

it is a very good console, the xbox is miles better in my opinion but it is still a good console

the online play with the ps3 is very poor compared to xbox live, but that doesnt mean its not good as we get a high quality service with LIVE, a game like motostorm is very fun online

the BLU-RAY player is excellent and looks brilliant in HD, and is a good option money wise. and on the point of it being a blu-ray player first i really think it depends on the user because i dont see it that way personally

the software isnt great (i.e games) at the moment but as darce said there are alot of great games to be looking forward to, that i have been waiting for for a long time and they look brilliant. It will also HOME eventually, wich i dont know if youve seen but looks like a very, very good feature. So because of this the ps3 will get better over time and hopefully justify myself buying one

the PSN store is also good as you can download full games which i think is a good feature, but there isnt as much content on there as you will be used to seeing on the live marketplace

alot of people say that another positive thing about the ps3 is that it is reliable, as reynard pointed out it is nowhere near as reliable as people think it is, i visited a couple of PS3 forums, including the official ones, and i can tell you they are sometimes full of people complaining that there ps3 has broke. It is more reliable than a xbox but not by as much as people think and make it out to be

so those are pretty much the good and bad points, i cant really say yes or no its up to you :)

Personally , I`d wait for the next price drop , that way you will have a cheaper console with some decent games by then and you can actually use it as a console rather than a glorified DVD player with Dust attraction capabilities .

I would def wait till you know when dual shock 3 is gonna be included, and also remeber that unless you can get a 60 gb version it will have no backwards compatability. At mo am playing Drakes Fortune which is a v good game (IMO) but I have had to wait a long time for something decent to play on it. Also had to have a replacement as blue ray drive failed so considering how many hours its been used it is not the most reliable console. Online is ok but not a patch on live. Big question is would i buy again now if not already owned, probably not as not enough there to justify the price tag but thats just my opinion hope it helps

I found another BAD reason for the PS3.

Devil May Cry 4 requires a mandatory 5gb installation which takes 20 minuets to install

This is supposed lower the loading times (approx 2 seconds quicker than the 360 version).

If this does become the 'norm' for future releases, than the 40gb Hard Drive will get full very quick.

Here's the proof

This is very true ... And i said exactly that to Rag last night ...

It is also supposed to "Save the blu-ray laser" ...

Does this mean the lasers aren't that good ...

Rag, are you prepared to spend another £60-£200 for a bigger Hard Drive just to accommodate all future game installations should it become the norm?

its not gonna become the norm,

sony arent that stupid (i hope) to make every future game have 5GB installation... if something is needed they will release another patch or firmware update to stop that from happening

Sure is, you can take cheaper standard notebook drives. That's one + for PS3.
