Rockstars: Bully Scholarship Edition Review
My first review so don’t say anything nasty
Bully, was first released onto the PS2 and Xbox, but has now got a breath of fresh air with its release onto the Xbox 360 and on the Nintendo Wii.
You may remember when Bully first come out for the PS2 and Xbox, the game was branded as the most controversial games of all-time. This was because you take on the life of a bully. (Hence the name of the game) The name of this bully you become is Jimmy Hopkins; a 15-year-old boy how has been dumped at his new school “Bullworth Academy”, by his mother and his new step-dad. You don’t find out much about his Mum and step-dad only that they are going on holiday and are leaving Jimmy at school.
Bully is a RPG style game where you take on the life of a bully. You have to do mission for all types of social group with you main priority to take over Bullworth Academy and the surrounding area.
The first time you see the trio of Jimmy his mum and step-dad is during the first cinematic, when they are in the car going to Jimmies new school. One of the first times you hear Jimmy speak is when he is having a go at his new step-dad and his mum for dumping him at this private school.

The first cinematic doesn’t do the 360 justice compared to other games, the graphics aren’t at all good. It doesn’t use all the Xbox 360’s potential as a gaming consol, and is sometimes very laggy with you hearing what the characters say before their lips even move. Now onto the good points this game has a very long playtime, I was playing it for about 15+ hours and was only about ¾ of the way through the main story. What also adds to the playtime is all the side missions you can do which are good fun, the lawn mowing is one of the side missions that is very fun (well not really it is just very different) Another thing that is very good about this game is the lessons and the rewards they give you, the English lessons give you the ability to get out of trouble by using your new and improved vocabulary. Some of these lessons are very challenging; I for one looked else where for help for these lessons. The shop missions are rather hard, the first time I tried them I failed. So yet again I looked else where for help on the button sequence.
Some of the missions is this game are very annoying, because they are just so long and so dull. One thing I know that has turned some people off this game is the glitches and the crashing of the game, my game only crashed once, but it happened in the middle of a very long and hard mission. The frame rate needs to be improved as many times in the game, the frame rate drops and makes the game very laggy and annoying.
The audio in this game has been done very well, with lots of different characters and lots of unique voices from nerds to jocks. You do hear some funny things being said every now and then. You also have the teacher’s voices as well which are all individual. Although the audio is good, sometimes the lag does make it hard to understand what certain characters are saying.

The fighting system is good but could be improved, with you sometimes going for a combo move but it ends up you hitting them once and you getting beat up. This leads me onto the weapons on the game, some of which are very good and fun to use, like the marbles, if you put them by a doorway and then you pull the fire alarm it is pretty entertaining. Another thing that is fun to do is shot nerds with the bottle rocket gun; I don’t know why it is so fun it just is. Don’t do this too much though of the prefects will chase you and, are more than likely to catch you.
Overall I would say this game is a buy, if you have the money and are looking for a game to entertain you for 15+ hours. You should pick this game up the next time you go to your local Game or Game Station, because it will be reduced in price as it has been out for a good few months now.
An update has come out which has stopped the crashing of the game and glitching.
Graphics: 7.0
Gameplay: 8.5
Audio: 8.0
Longevity: 9.0
Overall: 8.0
