"Seeeegaaa!" Sorry I couldn't resist.
For a start the climate in London is completely different down here in Somerset. So a quite chilly early Thursday morning, I set out on a wallet emptying trek to London on the train. To attend SEGA's Alien Vs Predator event at the Raceway somewhere near The 02. By the time I got into London, and had consumed my body weight in black coffee and red bull. I was ready to roll, and play some games!
After meeting up with some regular press faces, a whole bunch of folks including myself climbed into the back of a Van to take us down to the venue. When we got there and got inside there was a Introduction to the days festivities by Sega Community guy Martin Snelling. And before you could shake a 360 controller, we where back outside and walking down some very bunker'esque stairs into "Bunker 51" to play some laser tag. Attiring some extremely shocking hair nets, helmet, and overalls. The teams where split and some serious hardcore laser tag got underway. Sadly this time there was no stopping power or scavenger pro.
Hours later covered in lovely fantastic gamer sweat it was over with yours truely being top scorer in the second game. A short walk back up the stairs and lunch was in order. As I chomped away before I realised there was a real life live action Alien and 2 marrines walking in the room. A quite realisticly creepy alien, regardless of the fact it was a dude in a suit.
Later on the AVP gaming finally got underway! A very indepth and detailed talk from the devs on the different characters and different controls got everyone up to speed. I soon managed to get in a long session trying out all the different multiplayer game modes. And also bagged myself a pretty cool Alien Bobblehead for winning the Last Man Standing game.
After that it was time time to swap over and check out the different single player modes. Before I realised time had flown by as I was so in the game playing of it all. And it was back into the Van and back to the train. And then back home! A full Seegaa'rific day of booze, food, games, lasertag.. and the some!
