Finally, a SOCOM game with a single player. With the Playstation 3’s less than impressive online only return to the next generation era, making less impact than a dead fly. And with no single player that SOCOM was so renowned for. The game didn’t take off.
Jumping right into one of the missions, the game was a little overwhelming with the controls to begin with. Although there was no rush with the controls as the combat was rather slow paced. Unfortunately, the enemy A.I. hadn’t had their morning coffee, and taking them out was quite easy. Later on in the mission, I got to use some air strikes which gave a little bit more development in the game play, but again, the quirky controls gave me a bit of a hard time.
In all, my short stint on the game gave me one quick conclusion. SOCOM needs a co-op. To survive with tactical games out, or coming soon (we’re looking at you Ghost Recon) SOCOM needs to advance. With classic games like the older Socom’s or even Conflict Desert Storm. One of the perfect co-op tactical shooter games back on the Playstation 2. Socom will need a lot of work to make its latest entry worthwhile. All we can wait on, is further announcements.
