After Sam ‘Serious’ Stone took the star ship in The First Encounter his vehicle is accidently by the Croteam crate bus and plummets down to earth, this is where you begin.
Your goal is to fight through hordes of enemies and find the backup ship the Sirians left for Sam, travelling though famous Era’s in history to get there.

The first thing to mention about this game is the way enemies are endless, get rid of some and more will spawn in a few steps time, becoming more and more tedious as you spend more time on the game, you feel like you are getting no where.
Where graphics are concerned, the HD is there because it fits on a widescreen TV, not because it's HD graphics, they may have been upgraded in the slightest, but an upgrade is all they have been given. There are a few flaws with the graphics, enemies not being visible until they are about to attack you and the sky disappearing become an often occurrence when playing.

The story is presented to you via text that happens during the loading of each level, while it does eventually make sense the large amount of text is rather daunting, leaving you wanting to hit the continue button as soon as possible, for what story there is, it’s a fragmented and rather broken one as each level seems to tell you useless information which upsets the whole story.
Xbox Live Multiplayer is another feature of The Second Encounter, with Co-operative and versus modes, Co-op mode allows you and three others to go through the story with each other, under different modes that change the amount of lives you have or the weapons you have.
Versus is the mode that contains modes like capture the flag and death match, while fun at first it does get a bit dull with the repetitive game play.

Overall if you like retro shooters such as DOOM, this is a rather good game, a fun fifteen-minute session at a time, progressing your way through the somewhat broken story.
