Hi guys
I got a copy of Call of duty Modern warfare 2 yesterday (I know i'm running late but i am still pretty new)
Anyway i was playing through a few missions & was invited to play a special op with a mate, i accepted & it would not link to his game, we tried over & over & it was having non of it.
So i tried to find a match just to join via Xbox live, it searched for ages found 50 games to join then said it needed 7 more players, then stopped looking !?! :uhm: this kept happening everytime i tried.
Tried again after rebooting the xbox & the same thing happened.

I then popped my copy of Call of Duty 4 in & it found games & was ready to go straight away ?!? :uhm:
I checked my internet connection on my PC & via Xbox, it's all fine, it just seems to be COD MW2 just wont play nice :glare:

Does anyone know whats going on ?
I have just done a bit of googling & some people were having the same problem, but they were techy peeps who speak a differant language to me so i didn't really understand what they were on about.

I'm lost any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try resetting the modem/router? sounds like a NAT issue to me :uhm:

When you go onto the multiplayer menu on MW2, you can check what your NAT settings are like right there as it tells you before you jump into a match. It should be Open. If its Moderate you shouldnt have problems either, but is its Strict then you'll have problems joining friends and finding matches. However, sometimes you can join thier sessions in progress and get in. I found this helped a lot when I was having problems.

Hi mech ok thats pretty interesting. as i said in my OP i was sending & receiving gamer invites with me mate & it kept cancelling. we were both lost as lost thingies.

Next time i'll get him to start on his own & join in once he's going at it ........this sounds well pervy :bag:

Right just for peoples information, I went on the new dashboard thingy last night & did a connection test, It automatically flagged up that my NAT setting was set at "Strict" it asked me to re-boot my router & repeat the test.
i did that & it came back on as set to "Open".

Now Call of Duty works spot on.

Cheers for the advice guys i really appreciate it

Yeh good news indeed, i was expecting to have to go into my Router & bugger about with settings but the Xbox seemed to re-set it all for me.

Maybe one of the newer updates for the dashboard.....i have to say i love the new swishing X-box symbol, but the operating design is P*ss poower ^_^

Yeah sometimes my NAT changes from Open to Moderate/Strict & a quick reset of the router usually sorts it all out.

I never have figured out how to open ports for my router & when I have stuck my Xbox in the DMZ Zone it wouldn't connect to live at all so rather fortunate the reset sorts it

Me neither, but i am the kind of person who will patientley sit reading various forums for hours until i work it out, my other half say's i have limitless amounts of patience. ]

Thank god the re-set worked but i would have got it working either way.
