As part of a deal between Doritos and Xbox, Crash Course is one of two free downloadable games now available on the Xbox dashboard. Single player mode in this basic yet addictive obstacle course game is great fun and competitive. You play as your Xbox-live Avatar, racing on foot against the clock to finish each course in the fastest time possible. The game has fifteen courses to master, spread out across three country themed backgrounds - USA, Europe and Japan and is obviously inspired by TV game shows such as ‘It’s a Knockout’ and ‘Total Wipe-out’. Each course is filled with jump‘s, swinging hammer’s, paintball turrets and conveyor belts to slow you down and this makes the game challenging. It may take you many attempts to complete the course in the time needed to earn that prized gold medal and beat your friends for the bragging rights of being the fastest. This adds to the competitive edge of Crash Course that similar games like Trials HD have, giving it hours of game play.

But why stop there? Challenge your friends and the world on Xbox-live multiplayer and online leader boards. Multiplayer mode has been done in an interesting way, with you and up to four opponents racing against each other. Your opponents are represented by cardboard cut outs of their own avatar’s which are being propelled by helicopter blades, allowing you to keep track on where they are on the track. If you get stuck the ‘chicken out’ option is available to skip parts of the track, sacrificing your ability to time your run, as well as a little humiliation for your failure. Online leader boards are great for keeping tabs on your friends fastest times as well as the whole worlds, and add to the competitiveness of the game. Up for grabs is twelve achievements worth 200 Gamer score as well as a few fun gamer pictures to unlock making it well worth the download.

I am really enjoying Doritos Crash Course, it has given me hours of game play and has become a talking point amongst friends. Its fun, offers lots of laughs especially if you compete against your friends, what more could you ask for from a free game.
