I have always wanted an iPad and thought I would wait a few months from release date before getting one. However, I have now learnt that the current iPad only has 256MB of RAM memory. This concerns me a lot as the new iPhone 4 has double (512MB). It concerns me as I currently have an iPhone 3G which doesnt function on iOS 4 and I do not want to have an obsolete iPad in 18 months.
I have bought a zenithink zt-180 Andriod 2.2 Tablet PC
I dont want to wait until this time next year for iPad 2, but I dont want to buy an iPad now if a new one is coming out around December 2010/January 2011.
For those who have yet to buy but plan to, what are your advice?
Buy Now? Or
Wait?

I'm waiting - it will be at least April/May until the new one comes out, but as apple's products rarely fall in price until the new model comes out (which is then around the same as the previous model) it's not like you'll be able to get much of a bargain by buying before that.
The rumours surrounding the new iPad seem to indicate that this will be a major step up from the last model, but I doubt we'll find out anything about it until just before they are due for release!
My advice is to wait, and even if you decide to go Android I'd wait for that too until a genuine 3.0 'Honeycomb' model comes out, which is supposed to be more 'Pad' friendly than the current phone OS software.

Honeycomb should be released later this week (Wednesday, I think) But native 3.0 devices probably won't be out until april / may time. There are also some rumours of a few of HTC tablets coming soonish, but details are, at best, currently sketchy.
First one, HTC flyer, should arrive around march in the US, though only rumoured to currently have Android 2.3 installed, potentially 3 at a later date. With 2 more rumoured for the summer.

Well we all know the rumors for the iPad 2
Faster Processor
Retina Display
Front and Rear Cameras bundling Facetime
2 32 pin connectors
SD Card slot although highly unlikely !!
With all this taken into account and the announcement within the next 2 months ... Its worth waiting !

Further google-fu suggests these MAY be the flyer's specs...
Apart from the very odd looking 4gig of storage, Unless it's expandable via a Micro-SD slot, doesn't look too bad.
I expect more details on all these sorts of devices to come out in about a fortnight at the Mobile World Congress in mid-Feb.
