Hey Guys well after ranting in the shout box about it, a little voice mentioned the word thread, So here it is. :)

Right Basically Rumours are that Microsoft might be blocking all pre-owned games on the next Generation of Xbox. This will make every game have no sale value after you have played it in your Xbox720, This is Due to the Developers losing too much money in the pre-owned game sales, (or so they say).

Personally I think if they make a good game then it will sell first day and the only time people would even buy that game second hand is to get a new copy when their disc snaps etc. I think putting a block on Pre-owned games is so wrong, you wouldn't buy a New car that loses all its value the moment you drive it, So why should we be the ones that have to pay through the nose for games that will be worthless the next day all because the game developer got them self in a mess by making too many games and every game having glitches, When they should make less games but more focused games that will have big sales.

If they make crap games then it's there faults not ours, if a roofer finishes a roof and it leaks then he wouldn't expect to make lots of money when the roofs leaky. Same with Games if they just make good games that work then they Wouldn't have the problem of people waiting for them in the second hand basket. So our hobby will have no sale value at all that is so wrong. Does that mean Gamers money doesn't matter a gamers property value doesn't matter to the developers. But we are suppost to treat them like god cos they studied to be a game developer and lost money because they put out half arsed games with tones of glitches.

There was a time when I'd be bothered but badly implemented games have slowly replaced my enthusiasm with apathy. They'll go down the route they want come what may, it may implode.Posted Image

games are regarded differently by many people..many people are sheep and just listen to others and go with the flow(i see too much of this on bike games for a start!)while others get frustrated at taking the gamble only to hate the game and feel money is wasted.some only play games they are good at,some dont care about skill and just want some fun...hard to cater for everyone.

i believe games like sbk lack people due to game size more than anything alse...oh and lack of any publicity!!!
i meet many forza wannabies who didnt even know it existed and when you say" oh its only got 4000+ players"( even though the website says 6500+)they then reply with "oh i wont bother then"...which is a shame.

but are games like this value with forza around? f1 fans think so, but it was on every telly show around and advertised for donkeys.... im an f1 fan but i believe its worse than sbk or moto gp due to the fact its the same 10 cars round the same 17 or so tracks,at least bike games have more classes oh and they take a bit more talent too!!

but without the variety of smaller games(and there are thousands) where will we be?where will the fresh talent cut its teeth? how will we ever progress without fresh ideas?

i have talked about some of this subject long ago.i dont see second hand games as the problem for small wholesalers its the fact that they want to do away with discs all together and just have downloadable games...bingo no second hand games, oh and we get subscription to servers!!!

basically you are about to get super shafted again, like it or leave...my desision is made already..sbk 2011 is were pistol dies..no more.

anyway ive just finished a 12 hr shift,im knackered and dont know what im going on about...

goodnight.

pete

I couldn't agree more Ben, I've said it before in another thread. Unfortunately it's all down to greed at the end of the day.
Developers churning out mediocre games more frequently rather than slowing the cycle and spending more time like say "Turn10" to give a better more polished product.

I am not saying all games are like this as we do get some "Cracking" games that give hours of enjoyment. It does seem that it could be a worrying trend tho' for the future of gaming.

I think that the whole situation is a lot more complex than first meets the eye regarding trends and numbers on games. There are so many variables that can alter the figures like for me personally i just get bored too quickly :)

I'd like to say i wont buy the 720 if downloading is the way forward but that would be a lie !

I am a gaming "Addict"

I think if a console is blocking all preowned games then a demo needs to be available for every single game on that specific game's launch day.

With other entertainment products, you buy a movie because you might have watched it in the cinema or it has your favourite actors in it. With Music, you generally know the artist and have listened to them on a radio... with games, you pay out your money first and enter the unknown on if it's actually worth it or to your liking - but what is your loss, is a developers, publishers and retail outlets gain since no refunds can be made on opened games which leave us only the last resort of selling a crap game pre-owned. So, if we can't try out or have a means to try every single game before buying it then why should we buy a game we can't sell on?

I think if the Xbox 8 / 720 or whatever it ends up doesn't allow used games then it will actually be more damaging for smaller developers and publishers because gamers will generally only buy what they know and love - triple A titles leaving all the hit and miss games as impulse purchases depending upon financial circumstances.

It wouldn't surprise me if an online pass was required for every single next-gen game release rather than stop all used games whatsoever - which is a better alternative.

I can't see something like this happening unless it was also to happen on the PlayStation.
