Right .... I'm slowly getting up some speed on SBK Generations (SLOWLY)

Seems to be taking ages but i finally think it's starting to "Click" i am now beating the AI on hardest level but only just over 2 laps :icon13: :icon13:

I no it's not much to shout about as i'm still 5 seconds a lap down online :cray: :wallbash:

On a good lap lines are pretty clean but i still cannot see for the life of me how i could possibly shave 5 seconds off of what i'm doing :hysterical:

The only thing that i can think of is smoother throttle control to stop spinning up so much and a good gearbox ???

What apart from lots and lots of practice can you guys advise to work on ?

Cheers

So want to be up there when the new game comes out ;)

I was the same as you, it was through lap after lap after lap after lap, etc that my times came down, I take it you are on full sim (or whatever it's called), I couldn't get anywhere close on medium sim. I hated generations at first, I was just as far off the pace, even kept gettin whooped in single player races, It took me ages to get dialled into it.
Managing the brakes was hardest, tbh throttle seems a lot nicer than X but the brakes seem more refined, the bikes react to input better too. Gettin them backed in to corners helped, that and getting a good feel for how the bikes drift through sweeping corners (maggots for instance) make quite a difference.
Just keep chipping away mate.

learn what curbs you can and can hit...moto is milestone you know :)

you need to learn to man handle the bike to get in where you want it not where it wants to go.get your racing lines in order!! haha

control the bike.feel the bike.be at one with the bike.love your bike!

learn to push against the rear brake...and on exit use the front to stablize the bike.just a quick jab (really quick)and a little dig into the track helps stop any "funny business".

just play and let it all fall into place..knowledge is king....with a little talent.

It's a lot "Deeper" than i 1st thought this one

I'll keep chipping away ! Trying to get within a few seconds of you guys is becoming very OCD and getting me into trouble indoors LOL

well i played sbk gen on pc at the weekend under the name MAGGOT ...now i talk to a few top pc lads nearly every day on Facebook and love these guys...dropped bike fans...just like us..but....and its another big but......

they don't seem very quick!!!
i couldn't play long as i was due to race on i racing ...but on my first go at Phil i hit 23,8 0.1 off the no 1 time...at donny first go i hit 20.96...0.03 off the no 1 time...then i had to leave..
what im saying is from my point of view stay on xbox for bike games..pc players just don't seem fast enough for me.great lads.but not fast enough for me..

the game in pc has some odd faults..bike hover over the track and feel to light and spongy .on xbox bike seem more stuck yo the track and heavier...but the pc graphics destroy xbox .you can see further down the track and that kinda helps get braking.and corner entry too.

gen on pc also runs a bit faster to..

remember.this is just an opinion on the game.the lads themselves are great.

Pete.

i love sbk and will defend it without any hesitation...but...i think there are better tools for the job out there...were not getting the quality that seems to be overflowing in car games at the mo.

right folks, been doin a bit of time trialling on SBK gen to try and get my head around it, pretty unsuccessfully! How the hell the top guys get down to the times on the leaderboards is just unbelievable, I'm 5 secs off around Brno and I can't see how they do it! Messed about with set ups, have even gone to manual gears but I just can't get anywhere near! The bikes steer like ocean liners no matter what you do with the set ups, just can't stop em running wide out of the corners without just nursing it round, very frustrating! Head angle as steep as possible, trail on max and chain on minimum should have it turning on it's nose in the real world but doesn't seem to make a whole heap of difference on this game, am I missing something, have they got the physics back to front?

gamma....changes are small...never expect massive change..

running sterling fully left on both and chain fully left is tight off throttle...but under load can spin up to much kicking the rear out...the opposite will run a wider line and can.if it gets the grip run as tight maybe tighter...
i would normally run standard on both steering with chain right...but now im liking left....if it grips.its better.

problem is there ate many ways to change these subtle differences..

i have videos on YouTube with setups and laptimes ...i have a 1:46 @brno on there.with setup...it might help..@opcpistol73

but learning the differences takes time and patience

on most sbk and sbk tracks im running......

front reload fully left...rear standard......this drops 1mph off my speed but gives a better feel....along with...
front spring max..rear standard.
then its standard...max right on the last 3 in suspension.

standard steering and gears.

chain max left..

st brakes except saltlake brno Phil....the big tracks...run as little as you can..

this is a base everywhere...adjust steering...chain...brakes and gears to suit...

hope you understand ..

Cheer Pete, I'll give it a whirl, tho you've depressed me even more as it turns out I'm 8secs off your Brno time! Lol! I really don't know how you do it! 😲

It's all just a bit confusing as in real life on a bike, less steering angle equals quick steering and bigger trail should make a bike turn easier but be a bit unstable, so you'd expect a combination of both would make things steer very quickly, especially when combined with a short wheelbase (chain all the way left)! i guess at the end of the day, it ain't real life!

in theory the game is right....chain left and steering left is a tighter bike...
but it spins/looses grip because this is too much..granted some tracks i set my bike up like this but not many....steering to the right and chain right is more stable on corner exit and can grip nice but on the whole it will push a little wider....

sbk does follow a more realistic rep but changes are very small and take a long time to understand.there is a lot more too it that chain and steering

brno ....brakes on 2! keep the momentum up....

8secs haha trouty will be inviting you in his rooms all night hahahaha..

but don't worry...once you get used to the bike and how the game plays....the time will just disappear.....ask trouty :)/>/>/>

but if you don't want to be destroyed on moto ....i suggest you learn the milestone way of things....enjoy.

brake trail.....many including myself trail the rear brake...it stableizes (is that spelt right ) the bike...but if you can let it go and use the front brake to steady the bike on corner exit it will pull better....this can be tricky but the results can be worth it.

and finally :) some don't use setups...some use engineer setups...if i dont run a setup i can still run low 47s at brno ....the differences are tiny.
Pete.

Hi Gamma !

I have spent the last 2+ months playing the game regularly and can honestly say there is no point putting setups on the bike until you understand how the bike handles either with a "Standard setup" or preferably with a "Qualifying" Engineers setup on it.

All the bikes have their own little "Traits" but pick one and stick with it until you have got your head around it.

In SBK class i can quite well on the Ducati / Honda / Kwaka but prefer the Aprilia, altho' it does take some time to get used to the "Loose" rear end on it at first.

The Honda turns too slow for me and requires slightly different lines but there are some guys who can go "Very" quick on the Honda.

I would without a doubt say the most important thing is "Consistency" (Staying upright/finding braking point)and sticking to the Curbs. This is what has taken me so long (Probably 4 weeks) but i cannot explain how worthwhile it is once it comes. :clapping:

Once the consistency is there the game actually changes quite a lot !

Once your muscle memory has kicked in and you can control the bike better the speed of the actual game goes up "A lot" :yahoo: .... The braking can at times be just "Bonkers"

Unfortunately this is where most people "Give up" and never get what the game really has to offer.

I find myself sometimes getting the bike sideways into some turns Tyres screeching n big drifts  Honestly not knowing how the hell i stayed on and kept myself upright.

I have now got to the point where i can run with some of the front runners for short periods and its really is incredible when you get to this point because then and only then can you see the "Pin-Point" accuracy that these guys have ! ITS MENTAL !!! :icon13:

Curb to curb apex to apex mate is THE fastest line.

Best tips i have been given so far are:

1.

I use Pete's setup suspension bike / setting / suspension then:
Fully left / standard / fully right / standard / standard / Fully right right right last 3

2.

Brake fractionally earlier than you think then get "OFF" the brakes sooner and "Tip" the bike in sooner than you think.

3.

"The bike will go around the corner quicker than you think" !!! Took a while to get my head around this one but it works for sure.

Try this without touching anything else. (Until you have it dialled)

I cannot beat any of my times without this setup but can get "very" close when in a room on quick race where everyone is using the "Standard" forced setup, this is great too.

I am now just starting to add the occasional brake tweak (Less brakes) but to be honest for me it's way more about "Consistency" (Curb 2 Curb you gotta be on them Curbs)

With no crashes i can usually manage a top 5 and sometimes podium :icon13:

In a room of 12-16 it's "Bang on" racing ! :D

Enjoy mate !

Hopefully catch u online soon :icon13:
