Brothers and Toads race to the flag again!

Mario Bros U hop, skips and jumps its way onto the Wii U with the exciting inclusion of the new touch screen gamepad.

Mario and Luigi along with their two toad Pals are on another adventure through the mushroom kingdom. Taking on their usual foes and of course, Bowser and his minions.

The gameplay hasn’t changed from the Wii version at first as you will still be using the Wii remote held sideways to run, jump and control Yoshi to your advantage. Simplicity at its best, but obviously there is now the Wii U gamepad which allows a 5th player to be included in the action. Well…sort of. To be honest, all the player on the Wii U pad does is assist, maybe adding blocks or breaking objects but that’s about it, so not the most fun to be had here. Of course it makes the main game easier and will help the others though it but it’s just not that engaging for the player and it will have you wanting to swap with a mate pretty quick. It’s a good idea to include a 5th player to change things around but this isn’t the most fun for whoever is unlucky enough to use the pad, so don’t be the last one in the room!

The graphics don’t look any different than the Wii version either, but they are still as charming as ever with all the usual Mario themes. The music is as good as it’s ever been and if you know Nintendo then you know how great the music is so nothing to worry about here.

The game looks like it will be a great laugh and possibly last a while with friends but it’s all been done before. It may get a little repetitive but with a fair few levels and an oppertunity to go through it with some friends and have a laugh you could be woohooing for hours.

Overall this games got a similar appeal as before, especially to any Mario fan but hasn’t really done much new to make it a must have and it didn’t really show off what the Wii U can do, but a good fun game, providing you have four other friends to play with. Mario Bros U will be a great Game for fans, But just not enough new content to impress or entice new fans. A disappointing show for the Wii U’s new features. But it is Mario, who could ever not love that little red plumber?
